And oh, the editing.

Superunknown = no fun = never again.
But, I am quite literally exporting the Jason Arens & Ryan Martin SuperUnknown edits to quicktimes as I sit here writing this. And I am pumped. The past few days have been spent mindlessly sitting in front of a computer screen, listening to two songs over and over, reviewing raw footage, getting punched by Jason, and dragging and dropping clips into the timeline.
And, I'm done. Time for the filming hiatus? I think so. But, I do want to keep up some forms of art, so check back, I'll have more posts. Just not necessarily about production of ski movies.

SHRED TIME

Jan. 19, 2009
7:21 P.M.
Two weeks before Superunknown entries are due.. still shooting. Yet to edit.

Two Days Prior: Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009
The Ally, Sierra At Tahoe
Ryan Martin, Jason Arens

I woke up a little late.. gave Ryan a call. Got dressed, got started. Car started, I begin the long drive up to Sierra. Stuck behind obnoxious drivers and eating a blueberry muffin, I got to thinking (which for me usually leads to confusion). But, I actually don't want to go into detail about that, because it'll get me thinking again. So anyway, got to the Alley, healthy shred day.

(10:06 AM. Sierra At Tahoe)

Yesterday: Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009
Powder Bowl Park, Heavenly Mountain Resort
Jason Arens, Dre Wisma

My recollection is rather vague. Oh, parking was bad. Really bad. So I parked up high and traversed through the dirt to Gunbarrel; called Jason, met at Canyon Chair. We pretty much decided the third jump was the only one worth shooting.

Jason got a handful of Cork 7's and a 9 or two. Then he hurt his ankles, but not before ending the day with an iron cross. Dre.. fell. But still always kills it.

Today: Monday, Jan. 19, 2009
Northstar At Tahoe Terrain Park
Jason Arens, Ryan Martin, & Brian Walker

Woke up, 7:45, ready to go by 8:30. Thanks to Ryan's poor sense of direction (according to Brian), no one showed up till about 9:15. But no one minded. We got to Northstar and headed to the park with "tail tap 180s" everywhere and.. lost motivation quick. I'll let the pictures do the talking from here.

Brendan showed to hug the Alien

Contrary to popular belief, Jason is actually REALLY happy.

Ryan Marin Blindside Switchup.

This is Andy. He's our driver. "I don't care but sexy."

The first post. Where to begin? And that is not to be written in some metaphorical sense, I'm quite literally wondering. I'm creating this blog for others to be able to go beyond the Hidden Woods Media videos. There's so much more to them than would be naturally realized, and I would love to have some who care to be more deeply informed. Henceforth, I have come to create a blog. So, now prepare to be enlightened.

We (being Jason, Ryan, Katie, and myself) began what I am now looking at the most busy ski season of my life, on December 13, 2008, at Boreal. It was cold, snowing, and rather miserable. But we kept on. Camera rolling, we were able to come away with a few flat box shots, a front-flip, and a short lived interview. What I did not realize on the two hour (thanks to weather) drive home, was what had just begun.

See edit here

Now, simply to address the day, for my memory, and for accuracy, we DID in fact have a second day over at Boreal. I trudged over the mountains and through the valley... across the interstate, on what I would guess was
about December 18th. Jason and I shot a day, and feeling overly confident with the footage and very productive, I headed home, half a smile on my face the whole way. Later, I would grab my camera bag, head up to my room, pull out my FX1, and realize that I had left the tape on the roof of my car. My guess is that it got lost as I was on I-80. That's the end of that.

So in redemption, we rode Sierra. A lot, consecutively. Here's the edit that has come from the few days spent up there, SNOW IS FUN.

Ok, brief summary, but you are now caught up with HWM. Check back to know how the season is going, to see photos, and watch more videos.
